ACCOMODATION

  SLEEP, SLEEP ....SLEEP

In Mandalay, March 18th - 20th, for 2 nights, we booked into UNITY HOTEL mainly because the reviews on the internet was fantastic...9.0 rating  with a very reasonable rate for a twin bedded room.(US30 per room per night ) This hotel location is in the city very near to the popular local Zegyo Market, Mandalay City Palace, Mandalay Hills and other city sites etc etc

UNITY HOTEL

spacious bedroom. triple bed. both sides glass windows overlooking the busy streets

good hot shower , clean

View from the huge glass windows in our room.
Highly recommended Indian street bread and food. Chicken Murtabak is super tasty.

We reserved the U-Bein bridge area, Amarapura and Sagaing area for the returning night on March 22nd, before we fly off on 23rd from Mandalay Airport. So on the March 22nd the last night location of the hotel is in the south , nearer to U-Bein Bridge
For this we chose AUNG MYINT MO HOTEL.

Very impressed with the Hotel. Modern, clean and good service. Highly recommended.
The room we had is a 2 double bedded but designed quite different from usual rooms. It has a mezzanine level with the double bed up the pretty steep stairs. The bathroom is a full glass wall , with venetian blinds if you want privacy.
The downside to the spacious bathroom is there is no proper shower area. The only way to shower is to stand inside the tub and it is not a flat bottom tub. So one has to do a bit of balancing act when you taking a shower.

The surrounding area is not so friendly, as there is no eating places around nor any nearby supermarkets. The nearest is a 15min tuk tuk ride to Ocean Super Mall.

Unique designed with mezannine floor to add another level for a double.

clean, nice and comfortable.

Morning breakfast served on 7th floor. Variety a bit lacking but ok. The cafe has a panaromic view of the city.

In BAGAN, we had to decide whether to stay in New Bagan or Old Bagan. After reading up on other tourists reviews and suggestions, we decided to go on to Old Bagan. So we dont have to travel or walk so much if we stay right among the Bagan pagodas and sites of interests.
Here, we booked the Hotel Zein , stayed 2 nights ,which looks quite clean and has a very good 8.6 rating. ( US60 per room per night )

Very good reception. friendly.

Room is very spacious and clean with good hot water.

The nearest food street is 4th street (they call it ) is about 15 min to 20 min walk down the main road...

Hotel Zein is good and reasonable priced at US40 per night.(triple bed room)

However, when we walked around the streets, we come across some hotels located nearer to the food street, which could be more convenient. But anyway, we are quite happy with Zein Hotel.

Even to get around Bagan, to see the pagodas or temples, one really need tuk tuk or hire the E-bike. Everything seems to be remotely spread out. Hotel Zein has e -bikes for hire or reception can call tuk-tuk for you if you need. We realised the Tuk Tuk half day and full day tours offered by the Hotel is very reasonable priced and you can be assured you wont get short-changed.
